Vikings 26, Lions 17 (AP)

News - Sun, 2006-10-08 20:37
Trailing by 14 points to start the fourth quarter against hapless Detroit, somebody on the Minnesota Vikings had to put the ball in the end zone. The offense sure wasn't having much luck, so the defense took over, delivering an effort that would make the old Purple People Eaters proud. The Vikings scored two defensive touchdowns in the fourth quarter to rescue the struggling offense, turning a 17-3...

Bills 17, Vikings 12 (AP)

News - Sun, 2006-10-01 23:46
J.P. Losman and the young Buffalo Bills were efficient and composed, if unspectacular. On Sunday against the sputtering Minnesota Vikings offense, that was good enough. Losman played mistake-free in a 17-12 victory over the Vikings, and the Bills showed enough poise -- while getting a good bounce or two -- to prevent another Minnesota last-minute comeback.

Buffalo quarterback J.P. Losman did just enough to hold off another comeback by the Minnesota Vikings. Losman passed for 222 yards and a touchdown and set up another score with a 15-yard scramble Sunday to help Buffalo beat Minnesota 17-12. The Vikings threatened on their final drive -- getting as far as the Bills' 16-yard line -- but with no timeouts left, Vikings receiver Billy McMullen failed to...

TDs hard to come by for Vikings on offense (AP)

News - Tue, 2006-09-26 00:16
The Minnesota Vikings started the season against three defenses -- Washington, Carolina and Chicago -- that give up points like Simon Cowell does compliments. Not that there's been much nice to say about the Vikings' remade offense, which has managed just two touchdowns in three games and none in the last nine quarters.

Bears 19, Vikings 16 (AP)

News - Sun, 2006-09-24 20:48
For more than 3 1/2 quarters, Minnesota was beating Chicago at its own defensive game. By the end, it was the Bears who pulled a switcheroo on the Vikings. After a rough afternoon against a suddenly stingy Minnesota defense, Rex Grossman threw a 24-yard touchdown to Rashied Davis right after the 2-minute warning to rally the Bears to a 19-16 win on Sunday -- the same kind of road victory the...

Poor San Antonio. While the New Orleans Saints and NFL get ready for the biggest welcome-home bash ever, San Antonio is on the sidelines again, the gawky one left behind after the cool kids pick their teams. The Saints' return to their rightful home is cause for celebration, a rare bit of good news for the beleaguered, hurricane-ravaged city.
